WCR Benefit Series – Honduras Olvin Fernandez

clementine, melon, raisin
Las Flores, Santa Barbara | Parainema | 1540 masl | Washed

For the second release in our World Coffee Research Benefit Series, we are featuring a Parainema from Honduras. Parainema is a variety that was developed by IHCAFE in Honduras. It is part of a group of varieties referred to as “Sarchimor” and is a cross between Villa Sarchi and Timor hybrid.

Parainema has exceptional cup quality and has been regularly appearing on Cup of Excellence lists over the last few years. What truly sets Paraneima apart is that it’s resistant to leaf rust, making it a crucial piece in farmers’ struggle for greater resiliency.

This lot comes from producer Olvin Fernandez. Olvin owns 3.5 hectares of land in the village of Las Flores in the Santa Barbara Mountain region. There he grows Bales, Catuai, Bourbon, and Parainema. This 100% Parainema lot is sweet and complex with flavors of clementine, melon, refined sugar, and rum raisin.
