Rwanda
Tumba Natural

lingonberry, clove, blackberry tea

$27.00

Rulindo | Bourbon | 1825 masl | Natural

This Rwandan natural is snappy, berry forward, and a little spiced, with lingonberry and raspberry up top and clove warmth and blackberry tea closing things out.

Tumba washing station sits at 1825 meters in Rwanda’s Rulindo district, and its washed coffees have been among the most consistently impressive lots coming out of the country for years. That wasn’t always the case. The mill was originally run by two owners with conflicting ideas about what quality looked like and how a station should operate, and you could taste it in the cup. The turnaround came when Venustre Mugraneza, a respected teacher from the Tumba area, took over and began systematically improving every part of the mill. This natural is only the second year of dry processed coffee from the station, and at around 15 bags it’s a small lot by Rwandan standards. The bright, berry forward cup it produces has quickly made it a favorite East African natural.
