Rwanda Gitwe Peaberry
honey, clove, cinnamon
Nyamasheke | Bourbon | 1800-2000 masl | Washed
Gitwe reveals fragrant baking spice notes that bring a delicate warmth to its clean, sweet cup profile. We taste notes of honey, molasses, cinnamon, and bittersweet cocoa.
The Gitwe washing station, located in Rwanda’s southern Nyamasheke District, near Gatare, has become known for its steady investments in quality and infrastructure, including a modern water filtration system and a distinctive storage design unlike anything else in the region. Sitting at roughly 1,800 meters above sea level, Gitwe receives coffee from more than 800 smallholder farmers whose farms range between 1,800 and 2,000 meters. The station produces both washed and natural coffees and is equipped with ample fermentation tanks and patio space to efficiently handle the peak of the harvest.
